How to develop a stronger resilience?

Amen.

How to develop stronger resilience? For a fruitful life, join me in another episode of Coffee and Prayer. Kape’t Pandasal [Coffee and Prayer]

Life has its twists and turns. Sometimes days are eventless, however there are times when we experience traumatic events with more lasting impact, like a sudden death of a beloved, a life-altering accident, or a serious illness. Therefore, we need to strengthen our resiliency in order to overcome life’s storms. Psychologists say that difficult experiences also involve profound personal growth.

Being resilient doesn’t mean that a person won’t experience difficulty or distress.

Like body building, increasing your resilience takes time and intentionality. First it is important to connect with family and friends who empathize, understand, listen and validate our feelings. The people we trust remind us that we’re not alone. Spiritual practices help like praying, reflecting or mindful journaling. Ruminate on positive memories and gratitude for hope to flourish.

Help others to find meaning and purpose. Helping unburdens us, even if we too need help. Furthermore, we become resilient if we accept that change is a part of life. Certain goals or ideals may no longer be attainable as a result of adversity.

Let us pray: We pray, O Lord, for strength and focus on the circumstances that can still be repaired. Amen.
